GLENOLDEN — A man died in a motorcycle crash that occurred in the 100 block of South MacDade Boulevard about 7:30 p.m. Friday night, according to police.

A 2005 Hyundai SUV attempted to turn left from MacDade Boulevard onto Gardner Avenue when it was reportedly struck on the passenger side rear quarter by a 2008 Honda motorcycle. The motorcyclist — a 25-year-old Clifton Heights man — was traveling south on MacDade Boulevard in the left lane, police said.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from the Crozer-Chester Medical Center. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

The driver in the SUV, a 57-year-old Prospect Park woman, was uninjured, police said.

The names of the motorcyclist and the driver in the SUV were not immediately released late Friday night.

A portion of MacDade Boulevard near Sam’s Restaurant and Saloon was shut down while authorities investigated the scene.

Residents and witnesses gathered near the scene, which was blocked off with yellow police tape.

Tammy Reardon said she was traveling behind the Hyundai just before the crash occurred. “I was so traumatized,” she said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Glenolden Police Department and the Southeastern Delaware County Regional Crash Team.

Another fatal motorcycle crash occurred at the same intersection earlier this month.

At about 9:45 p.m. July 1, a 24-year-old man from Folsom was killed when his motorcycle reportedly collided with a boat being towed on MacDade Boulevard, authorities said.
